Giorgio Volpe was born in Reutlingen (Germany) in 1990, grew up in Calabria, and has lived in Rome since 2009.
In 2018, he graduated in Literature and Philosophy at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” with a thesis entitled Teatro Ragazzi. Experiences between Italy and France.
In 2014 he founded (and has since then directed) the theatre production company Giù di Su per Giù – theatre, for which he wrote Martina & Nocciolino (2014), StandBy – l’attesa (2018), Anfotero (2018), Cercasi Befana (2020), C’è chi dice (2022) and Missione salva Natale (2022).
In addition to his work as an actor, he is also a writer of children’s literature. He has been translated in more than ten countries including: China, USA, Korea, France, Spain, Japan, Lithuania and Germany.
He loves art, travelling, cold weather and biscuits; and when asked: “What are you like?”, he likes to answer: “I am a hyperactive creative person”.
In 2023, he is among the finalists for the Swiss Children’s Book Award with Il grande alveare (Caissa Italia Ed., 2022).
