Federica Ortolan was born in 1980 in Venice and now lives in Piombino Dese, a village between Treviso and Padua.
After completing her classical secondary education, she studied Conservation of Cultural Heritage in Venice. She graduated in Primary Education from the University of Padua and furthered her studies, focusing primarily on children’s cognitive development in relation to creative stimuli.
She is an author of illustrated books for children and adults. She has published with various Italian publishing houses, including Clichy, Carthusia, Il Castoro, Edizioni Corsare, Uovonero, Lavieri and Sabir. Some of the books she has written have won national awards and have been translated into other languages.
Alongside her writing, she promotes literature for children and young adults, and organises training courses for adults as well.
