He began his activity as a bookseller. In 1988, he started the ‘C’era una volta’ editions, introducing authors such as Lisbeth Zwerger, Kveta Pacovska and Roberto Innocenti to the Italian public and promoting the first works of many young artists. As a publisher, he received numerous national and international awards: ‘The White Ravens’ the ‘Gianni Rodari Prize’ and the ‘Andersen Prize’ seven times. He was one of the few Italian publishers to serve on the international jury at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair. As a writer, he has published numerous books and has received some fifteen major prizes, including: ‘The White Ravens’ twice (honourable mention), the ‘Alpi Apuane Poetry and Fairy Tale Prize’ twice, the ‘Fantasia d’Oro’ prize and the ‘Premio delle Palme’. In 2006, he collaborated on the script for the documentary ‘Who is Little Red Riding Hood’ by director Eva Ciuk (on the reality of the Roma in Kosovo). She holds writing and illustration courses all over Italy for teachers, librarians and paediatricians and meets hundreds of students, from university students to toddlers, trying to make them understand the poetry of texts and the magic of figures.
