Isabella Labate was born in Savona in 1968 and studied illustration in Genoa with Emanuele Luzzati. In 1994, she started publishing children’s books. Since then she has worked with several Italian and foreign publishers, exhibited in Italy, Japan and Taiwan, and was selected for the Bratislava Biennial in 1995 and the Bologna Book Fair Exhibition in 2011, 2012 and 2013. Her latest books, all published by Grimm Press, include ‘Charlie Chaplin’, ‘A torch in the dark’ and ‘The old man and the sea’. Isabella lives in Savona with her husband and two children, by the sea, but escapes to the woods as soon as she can.
She won second place in the Competition for Illustrators at the 43rd edition of the Premio Letteratura Ragazzi di Cento (2022) with the plates of the album Un tempo per ogni cosa.
