Chiara Carrer has been illustrating and creating in the publishing industry for more than 20 years. Born in Venice, she graduated in painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome and in engraving at the San Giacomo School of Ornamental Arts. Since 1990, she has published more than one hundred books throughout Europe The Great Ploff, Otto Karotto, Little Red Riding Hood, A qui la faute? Alice raconté aux petits enfants and the Lutin series,he has received the most important awards such as the Apel Les Mestres prize, the UNICEF prize, the Il battello a Vapore prize, the Andersen prize, the Osterreichischen Kinder und Jugendbuch-lllustrationspreis, the Bologna ragazzi Prima Infanzia prize at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, a special mention at the Ilustrarte International Biennial Prize for Children’s Illustration and in 2000 he received the Golden apple prize in Bratislava. Il Lord delle Liane, Bambine terribili, ABC, Troisdorfer Bilderbuch Preis, Progetto Alice, Alice et Peter, Il Gigante Egoista, Eine imaginare bibliothek, Arlequin are just some of the many solo and group exhibitions, both national and international, that have welcomed his work over the years. In 1997, the Catalonia Biennale d’Illustraciò de llibres per a infants award and in 2004 the Figure futures competition in Montreuil called her to be a member of the jury. Today Chiara teaches illustration at the ISIA in Urbino and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna.
