Animated by a provocative spirit and a subtle ironic streak, he is an author and illustrator of children’s books. He has collaborated with several publishing houses and his books have won major awards. Among others The Leap. Di città in città (ed. Artebambini) and Il circo delle nuvole (ed. Fanucci) were selected among the 12 best Italian titles of 2005 and 2008 respectively by the International Library of Munich. In 2010 he received the Andersen Award as best complete author. In 2011 he won the Nati per Leggere national prize with Il fatto è (ed. Lapis). Out of his interest in ‘drawing that speaks, drawing that tells’, ‘drawn theatre’ was born. Exploiting the unthinkable talents of the overhead projector, with a highly original technique, he gives life to narratives taken from his texts. His capacity for observation and synthesis spills over into engaging and effective theatrical performances.
